Hello Everyone!
With the summer break coming to an end we need to start getting back into the swing of things with small group. Brandon and I have talked it over and small group will officially be starting back up Thursday, August 18th. So before we start group there are a few things we need to do.
1st) we need to choose a study to start. If every couple can post or email me an idea for our next study by next Thursday, August 4th, I will post up our options and we can vote on them. Our goal is to have the study all lined up and materials set and ready to go for our first meeting on the 18th. If we do not hear back from everyone by the 4th we will vote on the options we have at that point.
2nd) we need to start thinking about what to do about childcare. As of now we have 9 children in childcare, this is not including sydnee as she will most likely be sitting out with her parents for the next few months. I would say 9 kids is about the absolute max children that we can put in the play room with 2 adults due to limited space. So with The Poes and Scotts expecting, huge congrats there, we need to be thinking about some other options for childcare starting January of 2012. Also towards the end of group before we took our break it was getting quite difficult to keep up the rotation of who was in charge of childcare with lots of couples missing group. No ones fault, just life. We have discussed the issue with our apprentice leaders and have decided we have two options: a) we can stop providing childcare and everyone will be responsible for finding their own childcare or b) we can split. Both options kind of stink but I don't really think we have any other options. We don't need to make a decision now but we do need to start thinking about it. So if anyone has been interested in branching off and leading their own group please let Brandon and I know ASAP and we will get you the helps and info you need to do so.
I think that is the major stuff so please please please get us the study of your interest by next Thursday so we can get going on selecting our next study. Hope you all had a great summer and can't wait to see you all soon!!!!

Possible Study:
ReplyDeleteWe all really seemed to enjoy the "Crazy Love" study by Francis Chan and he has a new one out call "Forgotten God" that focuses on the Holy Spirit. It combines a book to read, a workbook and DVDs. Sagebrush has the DVD's so we each have to get a book and workbook but it looks like a decent study. Looking forward to hearing everyone else's ides too.

ReplyDeleteWe had talked a while back about studying a book in the bible. At the time I think we were looking closely at Hebrews and then ended up doing the James study. Mark and I would be interested in going into the bible a little bit deeper. We still like the idea of Hebrews or possibly Acts.
ReplyDeleteAs for the childcare dilemma...we're open to finding a sitter on Thursday evenings, but we understand that this might not be the best option for everyone so we're flexible.

ReplyDeleteWell Matt and I were thinking along the same lines of Mark and Lindsay. We really enjoyed the study we did a while back on James. We would really like to get into the word itself a little more.
I don't think we have a preference on book of the Bible.
