Ideas

The two ideas Mark and I came up with are:

1) To provide a Thanksgiving meal for a family in need. Mark's idea (which I think is great), is not only to provide the food for the meal, but also to prepare the meal. Of course this will take some advanced planning and the logistics of it might make it hard to actually do, but we like the idea of being involved in the process rather than just providing the food.

2) Adopting families for Christmas. As I mentioned before my work does this through PB & J and I'm sure there are families at Sagebrush that could use assistance around the holidays as well. At my work we adopt 2 families and spend about $200 on each. While gifts are nice, typically what these families request are the essentials. Last year some of the things we purchased for the families through my work were: grocery gift cards, bus passes, pots/pans, winter coats/gloves, crib/mattress, towels, socks, books and a few toys for the children. Once we even wrote a check for a bill the family needed assistance paying. We've done this for three years and the children are typically around the ages of our children. I always volunteer to help shop for the gifts and it's something I really enjoy because I like taking a more active role in the process.

Okay so these are our ideas. We look forward to hearing what everyone else came up with!
